Platinum Group Metals Ltd. is focused on the development of platinum operations with production targeted in the near-term. Based in Vancouver, Canada and Johannesburg, South Africa our management team has a successful track record in exploration, financing, building and operating mines globally.

We hold significant mineral rights in the Bushveld Igneous Complex of South Africa, host to 80% of the World’s platinum production. Platinum Group also maintains extensive mineral rights in the area surrounding Canada’s only primary platinum and palladium mine near Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada.

The Company is focused on moving its first, high-grade, near-surface Western Bushveld Joint Venture (WBJV) platinum deposit to production. A positive Feasibility Study for the Project #1 platinum mine was published in July of 2008 with an Updated and Optimized Feasibility Study released in October of 2009.

Platinum Group has an active exploration program including the Sable Joint Venture (a 100 square kilometer land position adjoining Xstrata’s Eland Mine) and the War Springs and Waterberg joint ventures on the Northern Limb of the Bushveld Complex with the Japanese Oil and Gas, Mineral Exploration Corporation (JOGMEC), a state owned agency.

Platinum is treasured for its scarcity and unique chemical composition. With over 80% of global platinum production emanating from South Africa’s prolific Bushveld Complex, there is no other commodity that is as geographically concentrated. Since its discovery in the 17th Century platinum has been the metal of choice for nobility. Today, platinum is highly coveted as the jewelry of choice for emerging wealth in China and as a safe haven investment in times of economic uncertainty.

The introduction of formal automobile particulate emission standards in the 1970’s has made platinum one of the cornerstones in global efforts to control automobile pollution. In recent years up to 50% of annual platinum supply has been consumed by catalytic converter production for use in vehicles. There is no substitute for platinum and sister metals palladium and rhodium in the autocatalysis process. More stringent emission standards are being legislated globally translating into more demand for platinum.

Whether viewed as an industrial commodity or as a precious metal the future for platinum is bright.
