2010 Highlights
- Completed the "Project Delta" reorganization of the
Western Bushveld Joint Venture ("WBJV") assets on
April 22, 2010 with the Minister of the Department of
Mineral Resources approval, gaining Platinum Group
the right to acquire a 74% project interest
- Jinchuan Group, a Chinese state company,
announced in June 2010 their agreement to acquire
control of the WBJV partner Wesizwe and finance
their Frischgewaagd-Ledig project to production
- Completed extensive value engineering and project planning on the WBJV Project 1 Platinum
mine, including detailed plans for underground
development and project implementation
- Continued exploration drilling on the War Springs
Property in the North Limb of the Bushveld Complex,
funded by the Government of Japan's State
Company, JOGMEC
- Initiated exploration funded by JOGMEC on the Waterberg Project and discovered a previously unmapped
part of the Bushveld Complex
- Continued positive interaction with the communities in the area of our operations including
the PTM sponsored second "Annual Friendly
Soccer Tournament" with several teams from the
nearby communities taking part (Platinum Group's
Staff Team was beaten badly by the enthusiastic
community teams)
- Had a successful start to our "Eat What You Grow Project" in community schools where over 400
learners participated in a program to teach young
children how to grow, harvest, eat and even
potentially sell their own food. The project was
embraced by the school district and encouraged a
message of self-determination
- A deposit was made and positive interaction
continued with the State owned utilities negotiating
for the delivery of power and water to the WBJV
Project 1
- In August, 2010 the Company acquired the right to purchase the last large scale piece of surface
rights, with accommodation facilities, overlaying
the deposit area of the Project 1 Platinum Mine,
increasing the Company's holdings to approximately
2,700 ha
Subsequent to fiscal year end August 31st;
- Institutional shareholders showed their support for our Company in September 2010 to exercise
Warrants early at $1.75 per share for $6M
- In September, 2010 the Company announced an updated resource estimate for Project 3 of the WBJV
- In October, 2010 the Company completed $143.8M bought deal financing with a syndicate of
underwriters lead by Canadian investment banks
BMO, RBC, and GMP as Joint Book Runners. The
overwhelming global broad institutional support
for this offering highlights the Company's highly
competitive position in platinum and encourages us
to drive forward with the construction.
