Platinum Group Metals Added to the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index

(Vancouver/Johannesburg) Platinum Group Metals Ltd. (PTM-TSX; PLG-NYSE AMEX) (“Platinum Group”) is pleased to announce that it has been added to the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index effective as of market open on Monday, September 20, 2010.

Commenting on the addition Platinum Group President and CEO R. Michael Jones stated, “We are pleased to be added to the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index. It reflects our growth and progress as a public company over the past year. Inclusion in the index will continue to enhance our global visibility as we make strategic decisions related to our business in the near term, as precious metals markets are improving.”

The S&P/TSX SmallCap Index provides an investable index for the Canadian small cap market. The index is float adjusted and market cap weighted and was developed with industry input as the ideal benchmark for those with small cap exposure of the Canadian equity market. The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) serves as the distributor of both real-time and historical data for this index. Eligibility criteria include certain levels for market capitalization and liquidity, among other requirements.
